BATTLE GROUND – Community members are invited to the next meeting of the Battle Ground Public Schools’ Facilities Improvement Team (FIT) on Thu., Oct. 1, 4-5:30 p.m., at the Lewisville Campus, Building C, Room C-26, 406 NW Fifth Ave., Battle Ground.

Area residents are invited to the meeting to discuss potential options and impacts of a city of Battle Ground road project to school district property located in the downtown area of Battle Ground. The city of Battle Ground and the school district are committed to a collaborative process to evaluate east-west connector options near Battle Ground High School.

Discussion will focus on the potential impact of various options to school district property and how both the school district and city’s long-term goals can be facilitated.

The city of Battle Ground’s Transportation System Plan includes the addition of a new east-west connector road between Main Street and Onsdorff Boulevard to relieve congestion and meet the requirements of the city’s Comprehensive Plan. Conceptual proposals have included the use of district land for the new connector.

The Battle Ground School Board has asked FIT members to consider various east-west connector options, through a facilitated discussion, and submit their recommendations to the city for evaluation and further discussion.

Community members are welcome to attend and participate in the discussion. To learn more about the team’s work over the past year, visit www.battlegroundps.org/fit.
