Farmers market planned for Battle Ground this summer

The Salmon Creek Farmers Market, which is entering its ninth year, is expanding into Battle Ground this Summer, according to market organizer Ann Foster.

The market will be held at the Battle Ground Village and Foster hopes it will be a boon to both farmers and local consumers.

“Although Clark County has six or seven farmers markets this year, we still sorely miss enough of an infrastructure between food producers and consumers to strengthen and sustain a farm economy,” she wrote in an email last week.

The market is set to open on July 5 and run through September 20.  It will only be open on Thursdays from 3 – 7 p.m.

Foster said that because it is operated by the Salmon Creek Farmers Market they can leverage their infrastructure, allowing for immediate use of alternative payments, including, among others, credit and debit and Farmers Market Nutrition Program checks for WIC and Seniors.

So not to take business away from the restaurants in the village, Foster said the Market will not include prepared-food vendors.
