A school bus serving Battle Ground Public Schools, with no students aboard and stopped for a railroad crossing, was struck from behind on State Highway 503 early the afternoon of Oct. 4.

The bus driver, Kristin Anderson, who had come to a complete stop and was in the process of opening the bus door, per state law, was not injured. The car that struck the bus was driven by Geremy Frasier, 33, of Vancouver. Frasier had minor injuries and was charged with following too closely and third-degree driving with a suspended license. His car was totaled in the accident.

Anderson had just finished dropping off students from Glenwood Heights Primary School and was headed to the bus yard. The bus was operated by Cascade Student Transportation under contract to Battle Ground Public Schools.

A Cascade Student Transportation inspector at the scene estimated damage to the bus at $3,000 or more. The Washington State Patrol investigated the accident.
