Mallard Landing Assisted Living in Battle Ground invites area seniors age 62 years and older and their families to attend the annual Father’s Day BBQ, set for Fri., June 19, noon, at Mallard Landing, 813 SE Clark Ave., Battle Ground.

The Father’s Day event will include the traditional BBQ fare of hot dogs and hamburgers, entertainment and excellent company. Zanine Szatan, director of sales and marketing at Mallard Landing, said they have been putting on a Father’s Day BBQ since the facility opened in 2002. She said they typically do this the Friday before Father’s Day in order to keep the actual date open for family plans.

“It is always a big hit with our families and the grandkids love the casual atmosphere with the traditional BBQ fare of hot dogs and hamburgers,” Szatan said.

Entertainment at this year’s BBQ will be the Rose City Timberliners Barbershop Quartet, who will come to serenade the dads and granddads.

Szatan said they love celebrating their residents at Mallard Landing, and several residents have had some great things to say about past Father’s Day celebrations, including:

“Father’s Day is always really neat around here. Vinnie, our chef, always makes a lot of great food and even better desserts,” said Rick Foran.

“This is my first Father’s Day BBQ here, but I’m really looking forward to the Barbershop Quartet,” said Serita Doucet.

“I look forward to celebrating our dads, granddads and sons here at Mallard Landing every year,” said Paula Livesay.

“It’s just another day to me and I’m afraid that I’m racking up too many of them to count, but I am looking forward to enjoying with my family and friends here,” joked Doyle Allbright.

Seniors and their families wishing to attend the Father’s Day BBQ should RSVP to Szatan at (360) 342-0282 by Wed., June 17.
