A pedestrian chasing a dog on the I-5 bridge near Vancouver on Nov. 8 caused a three-vehicle collision involving a Battle Ground woman, according to a news release from the Washington State Patrol.

Patrick W. Finstad, 45, of Vancouver, was driving a C-TRAN bus northbound on the bridge when he stopped in the middle lane to avoid hitting the pedestrian. A semitrailer also traveling north and driven by Fernando M. Cortazar, 29, of Salinas, CA, tried to go around and struck the left rear of the bus and the right side of a 2012 Blue Toyota Prius driven by Christine A. Burklund, 46, of Battle Ground.

No one was injured in the collision, although Burklund’s Prius was totaled. The C-TRAN bus was towed and the semitrailer was driven from the scene.

Patrol officials listed the cause of the accident as speeding.
