County chair forum planned for Battle Ground

On Thursday, Oct. 11, Washington State Progressive Caucus Vice Chair Eric Holt and current Clark County Council District 4 seat-holder Eileen Quiring will participate in a candidate forum for the Clark County Council Chair.

Organizers said the goal of this forum is to gain insight on the importance of this election and hear directly from both candidates in an education-focused setting.

The forum will be moderated by the League of Women Voters. Nan Henriksen will set the stage, sharing information as to why the freeholders (designers of the charter) chose to create a Chair seat.

Quiring, a former legislator in Oregon, graduated from Battle Ground High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree from George Fox University. The Republican and real estate broker is serving her first term on the council after being elected in November 2016. Prior to that, she was on the Clark County Planning Commission and Board of Equalization.

Holt, a Democrat, lives in Hockinson after moving with his family in 2010. He has served as a Precinct Committee Officer since 2016 and has been vice-chair of the Washington State Progressive Caucus since 2017. In 2016 he ran unsuccessfully for the Washington State Senate, falling to Sen. Ann Rivers, R-La Center, in the general election.
