Back to School: Several BG schools have new principals, assistant principals

Five schools in the Battle Ground School District have new principals for the 2013-2014 academic year and eight have new assistant principals.

Here is a building-by-building rundown on the administrative teams and school-by-school administrations:

Amboy Middle School: Mike Maloney, former assistant principal at Glenwood Heights Primary, replaces principal Shayla Ebner, who retired. Assistant principal is Steve Michaelis.

Battle Ground High School: Tim Lexow is the principal. Matt Stanfill, who has been the health/fitness teacher at Amboy Middle School, is the new assistant principal/athletic director, replacing Karla Kalian in that role. Jann Byrd and Sue Fine are the other assistant principals.

CAM Academy: No changes. Colleen O’Neal is principal, Micah Hilario is assistant principal.

Captain Strong Primary School: Mike Michaud moves from assistant principal to principal, replacing Cindy Arnold, who becomes the district’s director of Career and Technical Education. Jennifer Kerr moves from Title I/Learning Assistance Program coordinator for the district to assistant principal at Captain Strong.

Center for Agriculture, Science and Environmental Education (CASEE): No change. Richard Hogg, lead teacher.

Chief Umtuch Middle School: Dave Cresap, principal. New assistant principal is Elizabeth Swift. She replaces Andy Schoonover, who moves to Prairie High School as assistant principal/athletic director. From 2004-2012, Swift was a teacher and substitute principal in Olympia. Last year, she taught third grade and was substitute principal at Yacolt Primary School.

Daybreak Middle School: Shelly Whitten, principal. Justin Pierce is replacing Peter Fallaw as assistant principal. Fallaw is returning to teaching. Pierce taught math in the Evergreen School District from 2007-2012 and did his administrative internship at Union High School.

Daybreak Primary School: No changes. Jill Dutchess is principal, Diane Castle is assistant principal.

Glenwood Heights Primary School: David Kennedy, principal. Tamarah Grigg is the new assistant principal, replacing Mike Maloney, who is the new principal at Amboy Middle. Grigg has been a teacher, resource coordinator and principal at Sacajawea Elementary in the Vancouver School District.



Laurin Middle School: Nick Krause, assistant principal, replaces Principal JoDee McMillen, who retired. Lori Schilling replaces Krause as assistant principal. Schilling taught from 2007-2013 in Washougal elementary and middle schools and did her administrative internship at both levels there.

Maple Grove School: Michelle Reinhardt, from co-assistant principal to principal. Lucinda Bancroft, from co-assistant principal to assistant principal.

Pleasant Valley Middle School: Travis Drake, formerly assistant principal/athletic director at Prairie High School, is the new principal, replacing Ward Holcomb, who retired. Steve Hoskins is assistant principal.

Prairie High School: Jason Perrins, principal. Dora Swart, assistant principal. Stephanie Watts, assistant principal. The new assistant principal/athletic director, replacing Travis Drake, is Andy Schoonover, formerly assistant principal at Chief Umtuch Middle School.

River HomeLink: No change. Mark Clements, principal.

Summit View High and Middle School: No changes. Bill Penrose is principal, Claudia Anderson is assistant principal.

Tukes Valley Middle School: No changes. Diana Harris is principal, Ryan Cowl is assistant principal.

Tukes Valley Primary School: Laurie Sundby, principal. Angela Knight is the new assistant principal, replacing Susan Watson, who accepted a position with Teachers Development Group. Knight was an elementary teacher in the Evergreen School District from 2004-2012 and was an instructional coach last year at Hearthwood Elementary in Evergreen.

Yacolt Primary School: No changes. Ken Evans is principal, Carole Lueth is assistant principal.

The first day of classes for the Battle Ground School District is Wed., Sept. 4.
