Clark Public Utilities is hosting its 24th annual Home and Garden Idea Fair April 24, 25 and 26.

Held at the Clark County Event Center, this local tradition is a great way to kick off the home improvement season and features a huge plant sale, activities for children, and all the ideas and supplies area residents need for their next home project.

The free show features hundreds of local home and garden businesses, local farmers market vendors and community nonprofit organizations. There will also be a showcase of landscape displays as well as guest presentations sponsored by Columbia Credit Union to provide you with expert advice on a variety of home improvement topics.

The plant sale, one of the biggest in the region, will be hosted by the Specialty Nursery Association of Clark County with more than 50 vendors selling trees, shrubs, vegetable starts, native plants, flowers and hanging baskets.

“For 24 years, customers have come out to the show for home improvement tips, ideas and supplies. The show has become an annual tradition for many local families and a great way to start spring,” said Heather Allmain, communication services manager at Clark Public Utilities. “Parents love it because there’s fun for the whole family at no cost, from crafts to science experiments to a giant power pole display in the event center.”

Fans of KXL.fm broadcasts “In the Garden” with Mike Darcy and “Around the House” with Handyman Bob are encouraged to come out Saturday for live broadcasts from the show.

Additionally, New Tradition homes will be at the show with a full scale display of their Energy Smart Home. This display showcases the latest technology for making a home comfortable and energy efficient. On Saturday, Greg Remsburg from the TV series “Gold Rush” will be signing autographs and hosting free “gold mining” activities for kids at the Energy Smart Home.
