Fall Battle Ground

Highlighted below are activities, events and items of interest for seniors in the Battle Ground area. Activities are open to any senior who wants to participate and many of them often take place throughout the rest of the year as well.

The Mad Hatters Club:

second Friday of each month 

There are no membership fees or red hats required. November finds them at a Battle Ground favorite: Lunch at Hometown Burgers & Breakfasts, 11:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 10, located in the Wilco Shopping Complex (in the old Fatty Patty’s space) Bring a big appetite for some homestyle cooking. 

Sr. Potluck Day: Second

Monday of each month

Doors open at 10 a.m., lunch served at noon at the Battle Ground Senior Center, 116 NE 3rd Ave., Battle Ground. Suggested donation: $1 per person. Join the Battle Ground Senior Citizens group at the monthly Sr. Potluck and meet new friends and enjoy a hearty meal. Bring a main entrée, salad, appetizer or dessert to share.

Pinochle: Weekly,

Tuesdays, and Thursdays 

Noon to 4 p.m., Battle Ground Senior Center, 116 NE 3rd Ave., Battle Ground. Cost: Nominal fee per game. Either single deck or double deck games. Having a partner is not a requirement to play. Potluck served at noon prior to the game so bring a dish to share with the group.

Senior lunch program: Monday — Friday (except holidays)

Lunch served at Noon, at Battle Ground Community Center, 912 E Main St., Battle Ground.   Seniors, age 60 and over, are invited to join us on weekdays for a hot and nutritious lunch. Typically there are two entrees offered each day. A monthly newsletter, which includes a complete menu, is available at the Battle Ground Community Center or view online at mealsonwheelspeople.org/what-wedo/monthly-menu/. Younger guests can also join the lunch crowd for a small fee of $7.39 per person. Cost: $3 suggested donation for seniors. Please note that the senior lunch will not be available on the following dates during the fall in observance of major holidays: Nov. 23 and 24. 

Bunco: Third Friday

of each month

1-3 p.m. at the Battle Ground Senior Center, 116 NE 3rd Ave., Battle Ground. Cost: $5 per person, per day. Roll the dice and play. This game is fun and fast-paced. Anyone can play. no previous game experience or partner required. It’s easy and fun to learn and play. 

Senior Enhanced Fitness Program: Tuesday,

Wednesday and Friday

This course is a group exercise program for people 60-plus years of age. The program helps to improve your balance, flexibility, bone density, endurance, coordination and mental sharpness and decreases our risk of falling. The course is 8:30-9:30 a.m. or 9:45-10:45 a.m., Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at Battle Ground Community Center, 912 E Main St., Battle Ground. Fee: $1 per person, per day; pre-registration not required.

Both Kaiser Permanente and United Healthcare will be providing several Medicare health plan information seminars at the Battle Ground Community Center this fall. Join us and learn more about healthcare options that are available.
