Amber Sweeney loves being a singer and a part of her hometown community of Battle Ground.

Sweeney has lived in Battle Ground for the last 14 years. In the last few years she has gained momentum on a national level as a musician. One of her recent songs “Lone Sailor” even reached number four on the iTunes Blues chart.

Just a couple weeks ago Sweeney released a new hit single “Believing In Love.” The song was an early released track from her upcoming album "Believing In Love" which comes out on Jan. 27. It can be preordered on her website at www.theambersweeney.com.

Growing up, the singer/songwriter said she received lots of help from people who invested in her and thought she could make it big. In the early stages of her career, Sweeney said support from the people of Battle Ground helped her rise in the ranks.

“I love this community, there’s so many great people,” Sweeney said. “I’m extremely passionate about giving back. The people of Battle Ground want people to be successful, and that’s really exciting.”

In her upcoming album, the Battle Ground High School choir is featured in one of the songs. Additionally, for every album sold the ROCKSOLID Teen Center in Battle Ground will receive a $1 donation from her.

“They’re doing great things,” said Sweeney. “I’m glad I can finally contribute something monetary to them.”

Her music is different combinations of soul, rock and blues. Some in the industry have compared her to the likes of Allen Stone, Bonnie Raitt and Sheryl Crow. Sweeney draws on her hometown in her productions. She has a song for example, called “The Great Northwest.” She believes much of her music is a reflection of her surroundings.

“I can’t wait to show the world who we are as a community,” she said.

The upcoming seven-track album also includes five other Grammy and award winning artists.

“The production value of this new album is amazing,” said Sweeney.
