Woodland is gearing up to celebrate its nearly century-old summer tradition, Planters Days. The 97-year-old event began in 1922 to commemorate the completion of dikes allowing the titular planters to farm the Woodland Bottoms. It’s been an annual event since.
This year’s four-day event begins at 3 p.m., Thursday, June 13 with a carnival at Horseshoe Lake Park with a children’s parade starting at 5:30 p.m. downtown. Saturday, June 15 will be packed with events such as a breakfast buffet, the 52nd annual frog jump, and 17th annual bed races.
