Battle Ground health care center will have ‘new look’ soon

Next month, Victory Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Battle Ground is expected to undergo rebranding with new ownership.

Victory has been operating under Orianna Health Systems, a Tennessee-based company, but was purchased by Cascadia, out of Idaho, in April.

“Nothing with our operations or staff is going to change as far as we know,” said Paula Myler, marketing director for Victory. “Cascadia is a much more local company than Orianna, which is mostly East Coast based, so I think most of us think it will be a good change. Maybe we’ll get a bit more support because it’s closer.”

Under Cascadia’s ownership, Victory Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center will switch to the name Brookfield at Cascadia. A new logo, paint job and other changes are expected to occur once the ownership transition is made official; however, no one within the company knows exactly when that will be.

“Washington doesn’t allow transfer of ownership if a state survey is being done until it’s over,” Myler said.

She said the annual survey is a standard check for nursing homes, evaluating building conditions and performance.

“Whenever they send us back the survey is when we can make the change,” Myler said. “How long that takes just depends, but we’re expecting by next month. Originally we thought the change would be official this month, but Aug. 1 is the target date now. It’s kind of just in limbo right now until that’s done.”

Myler said the rehab center specializes in skilled nursing and long-term care. She added that the center is the “only skilled nursing center of its kind that exists in Battle Ground.”

At a recent Battle Ground Chamber of Commerce meeting, Myler presented news of the coming ownership change and spoke about the center’s importance within the community. She said many people in Battle Ground probably aren’t aware of its impacts.

“To get what we offer you have to go to Vancouver or outside the county,” Myler said. “Things will be changing on the outside, but based on what we know of this new company, we’re excited about it.”
