Get Bold Events holds ‘no stress’ Thanksgiving River Run

Posted

Local training gym and marathon planner Get Bold Events is set to host a “no stress” fun run on Thanksgiving morning in Yacolt.

The run is not timed and starts and ends at Hantwick Park (23100 NE Hantwick Road, Yacolt). Even though the race is free, Get Bold Events asks runners to bring $10 for the North County Community Food Bank or non-perishable food donations.

“We just wanted to keep it simple,” Executive Director of Get Bold Events Elba Benzler said. “It’s a non-sanctioned event but it’s professional.”

Benzler said that while the event is a race, it’s completely without pressure and each runner is expected to time themselves and go at their own pace.

“It’s a really gorgeous trail,” Benzler said, mentioning how the both the 5K and 10K routes go past waterfalls in North County with the 10K run going all the way to Moulton Falls.

The race’s formal start time is 9 a.m.

As for the cause, Benzler said nothing feels better than giving back to the community.

“This is our way of giving back on the biggest running day of the year,” Benzler said in a news release. “In the past we have donated over 900 pounds of food. We have a goal this year to donate 1,000 pounds of non-perishable food.”

According to Benzler, the trail is “flat and conducive for all” and all age groups and athletic abilities are welcome to the race. The end of the race will feature hot cocoa, cookies and music. For more information about the run, visit getboldevents.com.
