Battle Ground’s Dixie Anderson and Dozer caught their cow during breakaway roping and earned second place.
Jaimee Karpstien and her horse Mouse finished fifth in the reining competition representing Battle Ground.
Ashley Venneri and her horse Indy dug into the dirt as they competed in the key hole event and took second place for Battle Ground.
Michael Johnson and his horse Breaker placed fourth for Woodland in individual flags.
The Battle Ground and Woodland High School Equestrian Teams compete in District 3 against Camas, Castle Rock, Enumclaw, Kelso, and North Thurston. Their first meet of the year was held in Elma Feb. 15-18. A total of 105 riders competed in 21 events. Huntseat, dressage, and jumping had to be postponed due to the weather. Those events will be made up at meet two in March which will take place in Spanaway.
