Annual Trail Course Event takes place this Saturday at Clark County Saddle Club

Each year for almost a decade a Trail Course Event is put on at the Clark County Saddle Club.

The event is a chance for riders of all capabilities to come out and practice or compete on an indoor and outdoor course designed with plenty of obstacles. This year’s event is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 6.

“Some people bring young horses that are still learning to ride trails, and others bring more advanced horses,” said organizer Frances Duncan.

Duncan said riders and their horses can practice on the indoor and outdoor courses all day for the cost of $25 for adults and $15 for youth. From noon to 2 p.m. there will be a judged competition for the outdoor course. The entry fee to it is $10. Ribbons will be awarded to top five finishers and some “nice awards” will be passed out to the winners. The youth category is 16 years or younger.

Last year about 80 people participated in the Trail Course Event. Duncan said the event will go on rain or shine.

Registration starts at 8 a.m. and food is for sale throughout the event. The event will also have an arts show.
