2013 Parade of Homes set to open

Posted

It’s that time again for The Building Industry Association of Clark County (BIA) to showcase the best of home construction in the area with the celebration of the 36th Anniversary of the NW Natural Parade of Homes.

This year’s event offers area residents the chance to participate in two tours over three weeks in July. The NW Natural Parade of Homes presented by HomeStreet Bank will showcase five innovative home designs, fully furnished and beautifully landscaped. The Parade homes are located in Clark County’s Felida neighborhood in the Bella Ridge development and will feature this year’s professional builders – Bella Villa Homes, Axiom Custom Homes and Cascade West Development.

The public will also have the opportunity to experience an additional 20 homes by taking the NW Natural Open House Tour across Southwest Washington. The NW Natural Parade of Homes offers the finest in architecture, materials, gas heating, and appliances and BIA officials believe they are truly exceptional examples of custom home construction in the area.

The 2013 NW Natural Parade of Homes & Open House Tour will take place Fri., July 12 through Sun., July 28. Visit www.ClarkCountyParadeOfHomes.com for all the details.

The NW Natural Parade of Homes, produced by the BIA, has become a summer tradition for families, couples and everyone looking to find innovative ideas for building, remodeling, landscaping, decorating or buying a new home. For more than 35 years the Parade of Homes has showcased premium homes to tour and this year is no exception. Homes this year will range in size from 3,400 to 4,700 square feet.

“We know people care about saving energy and cutting costs while maintaining comfort and we want to help them do that by showing them the latest in high-efficiency, natural gas options for their home,” said Dave Williams, NW Natural vice president of utility services.

The two tours in this year’s event are offered to the public at one ticket price. Attendees can buy a combo ticket for $12 and tour both of the shows during the same time period (July 12-28).

“We are thrilled to be back in the Felida area of Vancouver for the NW Natural Parade of Homes,’’ said Avaly Scarpelli, executive director of the BIA. “This year, our three builders have created beautiful homes that are not to be missed.  The homes at the Parade site, and the selection of the homes on the Open House Tour are all truly representative of the builders, their craftsmanship, and the quality we represent, and of our association as a whole.”

“This is the showcase of our finest builders in the area, their ingenuity and tenacity to weather the economic downturn is remarkable,’’ said Ott Gaither, chairman of the NW Natural Parade of Homes. “Our builders are back, better than ever, and if you are looking for a new home, attending the Open House Tour and NW Natural Parade of Homes is a must.”

Complete descriptions of the homes featured in both the NW Natural Parade of Homes and Open House Tour can be found at www.ClarkCountyParadeOfHomes.com.

Here’s a quick look at the homes featured in this year’s NW Natural Parade of Homes:

• Bella Villa Homes: Bella Casa – This 3,415-square-foot home is located on a large corner lot and anchors the entrance of this year’s show. The home’s many amenities include a large open foyer with tray ceiling accent and travertine floors. The entry floor plan leads to a dining room trimmed in bold crown molding. A half bath is located on the opposite side of the entry for guests. An impressive great room with high ceilings awaits visitors with hand scrapped hardwood floors, flanked by custom floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and cabinets on each side of the stone-faced natural gas fireplace.

• Bella Villa Homes: Bella Chateau – This 3,880-square-foot home is set on a large greenbelt lot within the premiere development of Bella Ridge. Car collectors and hobby enthusiasts will likely enjoy the oversized 3-car garage with covered breezeway that leads to a detached 2-car garage or shop with half bath. The home is accented with stone fascia and an exposed timber entry. Upon entering the front door, visitors will be greeted with an open foyer.

• Bella Villa Homes: Casa Cresta – This 4,680-square-foot luxury retreat home is painted in warm, soothing tones with generous stone accent fascia and an oversized 3-car garage. The inviting, majestic entry features exposed timber columns and beams that add to the lodge appeal. Upon entering the home, visitors are greeted with a spacious open foyer, an extensive tray ceiling accented with chandeliers, and eye-catching travertine floors.

• Axiom Luxury Homes: The Nantucket – The Nantucket is an example of a coastal home that could be found in Maine or New England. With its shingle siding on the front, it’s as though, just around the corner, ships are returning home from a long day of catching lobster.  Axiom took that charm and integrated it into something useable for the Northwest. The covered porch in the back features a natural gas grill and fireplace that allows for year-round outdoor cooking and entertaining, even on those brisk Pacific Northwest summer evenings. When the guests have left, potential owners might take a relaxing soak in the hot tub just steps away. GroOutdoor Living created an outdoor oasis, incorporating the right amount of grass, plants, paths and planting beds.

• Cascade West Development: The Halstad – With charming dormers, a sprawling 3-car garage, shingle and stone siding, this design extends a gracious welcome to all. The angled lines of the garage and the main home direct visitors to the covered front entry. An eye-catching double-gable roof feature above the front door invites the eye and leaves visitors with the desire to see the interior of the home. Spreading out luxuriously from the large, rectangular foyer is a great room with a view to the back via a wall of windows. The kitchen, with its large pantry, oversized island and huge dining area should be an entertainers dream. Just off of the dining room through a glass door is a covered patio with a ceiling covered in pine tongue and groove.

The Building Industry Association (BIA) is a trade association, organized by local homebuilders in 1969, to provide a united voice for the building industry in Clark County. The Association has over 700 members consisting of general contractors, sub-contractors, developers, Realtors, financial institutions, title companies, nonprofit organizations and various other area businesses.
