The Building Futures Foundation awarded three students with academic scholarships at the Building Industry Association (BIA) of Clark County’s recent membership dinner meeting.

The following students were honored:

Sara Ashback, of Ridgefield, is a sophomore at Montana State University, majoring in civil engineering and math. After graduating Sara hopes to do relief work in countries that have poor infrastructure. She is a member of American Society of Civil Engineers as well as Society of Women Engineers. Outside of school she is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi women's fraternity and an advocate at the VOICE center, a place to support survivors of interpersonal violence. In her free time she can be found playing piano or Frisbee. Next fall Sara will be studying abroad at Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola, in Lima, Peru.

Will Trevena is a senior at Woodland High School. He’s a multi-sport athlete and a 4.0 student with membership in the National Honor Society and Academic Scholars. He’s been a 3-year member of Interact, a student club dedicated to community service. Will has participated in three service trips to Mexico and organized events locally to support his town’s community center and the building of a new park. Will graduates in June and plans on studying Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of San Diego in California while participating in either Air Force or Army ROTC. He enjoys hiking, camping, and most importantly, spending time with friends and family.

Donovan Cordova, was born and raised in Vancouver. He is a freshman studying civil engineering at the University of Washington. Donovan was one of just 18 students in the state selected as a NASA Space Grant Scholar in 2014 and he was on the UW Quarterly Dean’s List this fall for being among the top undergraduates in the College of Engineering. This summer he will intern with Kiewit Bridge and Marine. A self-proclaimed skyscraper enthusiast, Donovan volunteers with Evergreen Habitat for Humanity, enjoys composing music and exploring the city of Seattle.
