Taking the award for “Favorite Project” at the Columbia Credit Union Remodeled Homes Tour for 2017 was ReNew Creations, which remodeled a “grannie apartment” to provide a 1,000-square-foot living space for a relative.
The outdoor living area of The Whitby, a house by Generation Homes Northwest that won both the industry award and people’s choice award for “Best Outdoor Living Area” for their showing at the 2017 Parade of Homes in September.
Although The Turtledove did not win for its outdoor area, overall it was deemed the house with the “Most Liveable Floor Plan” by both industry officials and members of the public during its showing at the 2017 Parade of Homes.
In what was deemed a “highly unusual outcome” by the award presenters, two homes swept every category voted on by both industry officials and the public during the 2017 Parade of Homes.
The Clark County Building Industry Association gave the awards to two winning homebuilders during an Oct. 19 awards ceremony, as houses “The Turtledove,” built by Cascade West Development, and “The Whitby,” built by Generation Homes Northwest, won every category for both the Industry Awards and the People’s Choice Awards – 18 awards in total.
The results were also of note as in eight of the nine categories, both the industry people and the public agreed on the best house. Only the Best of Show had a split decision. Industry folks favored The Turtledove, while the people favored The Whitby.
“Both the NW Natural Parade of Homes and the Columbia Credit Union Remodeled Homes Tour successfully showcased the high-caliber work of our members. We appreciated the community’s enthusiastic support of these signature BIA events,” BIA President Aaron Marvin stated in a release. “It’s always fun to see which projects catch the eye of voters and the participants were definitely enjoying the friendly competition this year!”

The 40th annual NW Natural Parade of Homes, presented by DeWils & HomeStreet Bank, took place Sept. 8-24 at The Meadows at Whipple Creek in Ridgefield.

Also receiving recognition were award-winners in the Columbia Credit Union Remodeled Homes Tour, which took place during the weekend of Sept. 30.
Apart from focusing on making the old new, as opposed to the Parade of Homes’s focus on brand new homes, the awards also contrasted the sweep, as all four participating companies took home an award.
