Use pumpkins to decorate for fall this year

Posted

Looking for some pumpkins to decorate your home for fall this season? Clark County has several pumpkin patches around the area that have opened this month to the public, including the popular Bi-Zi Farms in Vancouver.

Bi-Zi Farms Pumpkin Patch and Harvest Festival is meant to celebrate the annual harvest and the farm’s rural heritage. Everyone is encouraged to come experience a day on the farm. The farm and pumpkin patch will be open to the public the entire month of October on Fridays, 2-5:30 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

Admission is $10 per person, $8 for seniors age 62 and older, and free for children 2 years old and younger.

Admission includes one pumpkin from the patch, any size you can carry; free admission to the corn maze, free admission to the farm animals, free children’s activities; live music on Friday afternoons and Saturdays and Sundays; one free hot drink per admission; wagon ride to and from the pumpkin patch to find that “perfect” pumpkin; corn shelling and grinding station; free apple cider sampling and more.

For anyone who is really up for a challenge, the Nighttime Corn Maze will be open Friday and Saturday nights, 6-9:30 p.m., after the pumpkin patch closes. Admission paid for the pumpkin patch includes the corn maze even after the pumpkin patch closes as long as you get your hand stamped before you leave. The Nighttime Corn Maze can also be done by itself for a $5 admission fee. Attendees need to bring a flashlight.

Free children’s activities at the farm included in your admission to the pumpkin patch include the hay bale maze, corn crib, bale pyramid, pedal tractor driving, calf roping station (new this year), farm animals and two shots on the pumpkin launchers.

Also available at the pumpkin patch for an additional fee are pony rides, face painting, food and drink, and fresh kettle corn and caramel corn.

Bi-Zi Farms is located at 9504 NE 119th St., Vancouver. For more information, call (360) 574-9119 or visit www.bizifarms.com.
