Posted

An informative workshop with Jacqueline Freeman, who will speak about being a bee-friendly gardener, will be held Tue., Oct. 7, 7 p.m., at the CASEE Center, Building B, Room 202/205, 11104 NE 149TH St., Brush Prairie.

This workshop is presented by the Master Gardener Foundation of Clark County.

Freeman will talk about being a bee-friendly gardener, what is most beneficial for pollinators, what to plant how, when and where and how that works so well with good garden design. She’ll include information about native pollinators, including bee housing and what are productive nectar and honey sources.

She will also show participants how to make a bee watering station to get them through the dry months. Sample some floral honeys as well.

Freeman is a biodynamic farmer and a bee lover. She speaks frequently at national and regional conferences relating honeybees to permaculture, organic beekeeping and biodynamic agriculture. This year she was a speaker at the Women’s Permaculture Conference, the Washington Tilth Conference, the Organic Beekeepers Conference and many other Washington events.

Freeman is in the documentary about honeybees, titled “Queens of the Sun,” and wrote a chapter for the book that accompanies the movie. Her new book, “Communications with Bees: Bringing the Sacred back to our Relationship with Honeybees,” was just recently released.

This event is free to the public and members.
