BIA comments on monthly building stats

The February 2015 building activity report released by Clark County on March 3 showed significant gains in Single Family Residence (SFR) building permits.

One hundred SFR permits were issued in February 2015, an increase from 60 SFR permits in the same month of 2014. This represents a 67 percent increase. Month-to-month increases were 28 percent with 78 SFR permits issued in January.

“This continuing trend of increased building activity is positive both for families looking for their new home and for our region’s job market. Our cabinet production and employment has slowly, yet steadily increased since the recession” said Tracy Wilson, CEO of DeWils Industries and BIA board member.

“There is ongoing work to be done,” said Tracy, fresh off a trip to Olympia for state board meetings with Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW), “to ensure that builders have the legislative support they need on a local, state and federal level to build the homes consumers are looking for at all price points.”

The building activity report for March 2015 was not available at The Reflector press time.

The Building Industry Association (BIA) of Clark County is a non-profit trade association representing the interests of all businesses involved with real estate, land development, homebuilding and construction.
