Sustainable gardeners can host visitors for annual Natural Garden Tour

Posted

Are you proud of your yard and garden, especially how nice it looks without having used herbicides, fertilizers and other chemicals?

If so, you may want to become part of the annual Natural Garden Tour. Participating residents open their gardens to visitors and discuss their sustainable techniques, such as rain barrels, mulching, native vegetation and plants that benefit wildlife.

The annual event is a fun way to show off your yard and environmentally friendly techniques that make it a neighborhood gem. The event also provides a chance for others to learn about Earth-friendly gardening, get inspiration for their own yards, and exchange ideas with hosts and other gardeners.

All county residents who use environmentally friendly techniques are encouraged to be hosts for the informational tour, which will be held Sunday, July 26.

“It’s great that residents take pride in their yards and the sustainable techniques they use to make them shine,” said Don Benton, Clark County Environmental Services director. “It’s even better when they share their knowledge and experience with others who want to follow in their footsteps.”

To register as a host for the Natural Garden Tour, contact Hana Marino at Clark County Environmental Services at (360) 397-2121 ext. 5290 or Hana.Marino@clark.wa.gov.
