Curb Accents helps add unique definition to customers' landscapes

In 2003, Pat Craig decided he wanted to start his own company, be his own boss and not travel, and what began as a decorative concrete curbing company slowly turned into Curb Accents, a multi-faceted business that also constructs driveways, walkways, approaches and decorative concrete flatwork.

“In April of 2006, Pat was able to quit his outside sales job and focus all his time on Curb Accents, Inc.,” said Karen Craig, Pat’s wife.

Servicing all of Clark County and the Portland Metro area (Gresham, Lake Oswego, etc.), Curb Accents offers customers concrete curbing for flower beds and grass, along driveways and walkways and more. The company also offers stamped concrete, exposed aggregate concrete, colored concrete, broom-finish concrete, sand finish, concrete walls, concrete countertops, concrete acid stains and more.

“Curbing adds a very unique cleanness to a customer’s landscape,” Craig said. “It serves as an excellent divider between flower beds and grass, along driveways and walkways and is extremely durable. It will not move or pull up as some other materials often do.”

According to the Curb Accents website: “Continuous concrete landscape edging adds distinction and beauty to your property and saves time on mowing and trimming. It is more economical and durable than plastic, steel or wood lawn edging that can rot, pull up or rust and require removal and replacement within a few years.” Concrete curbing design flexibility including flowing curves, straight lines, colors and other customer design options; professional appearance can add value to the property; helps create root barriers and more.

For patios and walkways, Craig said stamped concrete is very popular. Lately, they have been doing a lot of sand finish concrete, which gives the look of a sandy beach.

“This type of concrete is becoming more popular as I complete more jobs and show the finished product to new customers,” Craig said.

Craig said the most common project people request are decorative concrete patios and walkways. Craig adds special features as well such as fire pits, seat walls and steps, and often times lights are installed right into the steps and/or walls for added character.

Along with curbing, walkways and patios, Curb Accents also offers concrete countertops. Craig said the concrete countertops are extremely unique and very customized because customers can add special mementos if they want to.

“I recently made a concrete desk for my daughter and added shells and bits of sea glass she found on her favorite beach,” Craig said.

Craig said a few of the things that sets Curb Accents apart from other concrete design companies include their commitment to the satisfaction of the customer and their ability to meet the needs of the customer with their large scope of capabilities.

“People should feel free to call seven days a week,” Craig said. “We are happy to come take a look at your potential project and give free estimates.”
