Deonna Grove from Ridgefield High School was awarded the title of Honor Graduate by the Lewis & Clark Young Marines after placing first out of 48 overall students in its recruiting class that graduated on Saturday, March 23.
Groves was awarded the William W Hillgaertner Honor Graduate Award and was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class.
“When they called my name, saying I was this year’s Recruit Honor Grad, that was probably one of the biggest moments of my life,” Groves said in a news release. “I am so glad I decided to join the Lewis & Clark Young Marines. They have helped me become a more confident and better person.”
