On March 26 Battle Ground bus driver Helen Peterson was added to a safety “Wall of Fame” by the Student Transportation of America.

“Helen inspires her colleagues,” said Robert Kilian, the Operations Manager for Cascade’s Battle Ground location, in a news release. “Employees continue to acknowledge Helen in how much she deserves this recognition based on her dedication and mentorship to others.”

Peterson has been working in the school transportation industry for fifteen years and was chosen for the award because of her impeccable attendance record and dedication to safety and policy. She has been known to knit scarves for students during the holidays and coldest months and is devoted to teaching them how to properly behave on the school bus. Peterson keeps a very clean bus, there is even an annual award named the “Helen Peterson Clean Bus Awards” presented to the driver with the cleanest bus for the year.
