Last week, U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler chose the three winners of her Southwest Washington’s Congressional Art Competition and two Cedar Tree Classical Christian School students took first and second.

Megan Sheets took first place for her acrylic painting titled “Paia.” The award is coupled with an invite to Washington, D.C. to see her artwork hung in the U.S. Capitol Building next month.

“The level of talent these artists displayed in this year’s art competition was terrific,” Herrera Beutler said in her announcement. “As always, we had some great submissions, which made it all the more difficult to choose a winner. I’m proud to hang Megan’s beautiful flowers in the Capitol for all to enjoy.”

Sheets’ classmate Ysabel Morales took second place for her pencil drawing titled “Gentle Giants.” A Kelso High School student, Luis Gurrola Villarreal, took third.
