HOW TO SUCCESSFULLY Fish Local Waters: Ages 10 and up learn how and where to successfully fish local waters for trout, steelhead, salmon and sturgeon from local fishing guide Darrell Kirkpatrick. Fishing regulations, ecology, safety, ethics, location, seasons, tackle, bait, etiquette, casting, drifting, plunking and knot tying techniques will be the focus of the classes targeting these northwest fish with an introduction to fly fishing. All materials and equipment provided. Two class times to choose from, 3-4 p.m, or 7-8 p.m. Cost is $68 starting June 14. SAFE SITTER: A medically accurate, competency-based, highly structured babysitting preparation course designed for young adolescents (no younger than 11). The course prepares young adolescents for the profound responsibilities of nurturing and protecting children. Class is June 11 from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on the Lewisville Campus, cost is $75. PIANO LESSONS: Beginning and Intermediate Piano Lessons will be between 2-7 p.m. starting June 2 at Lewisville. You must call to schedule your 30-minute beginner lesson, and 45-minute intermediate lesson, six total lessons. Cost is $150 for beginners and $185 for intermediate. WATERCOLOR PAINTING, ONE NIGHT ONLY: “What’s Up Parrot” watercolor painting workshop is one night only. Workshop will be June 21 from 7-9 p.m. at the Lewisville Media Center, cost is $30, includes materials. Come out and paint a colorful yellow and blue parrot in flight learning image transfer, basic wash, wet into wet & wet into dry paint application, splattering and blowing techniques, brush techniques and more. This is an impression of a parrot and you will have a pattern to work from. No experience is necessary. Just come and have fun. Lynn Strickland, local watercolor artist leads this two-hour workshop. HOUR IMPACT Time Bank Turns 1 on Sat., May 21, 9 a.m.-noon, at Salmon Creek Park, 1112 NE 117th St., Vancouver. Meet at Pondview Shelter (located in back of the park). They will be doing a park cleanup to remove litter and from 11 a.m.-noon, then gather at the shelter to eat cake.
