THE CLASSIC GOSPEL SONS, five longtime friends who got their start at Northwest Nazarene College in 1968, will have a free holiday concert on Sun., Dec. 8 at 10:30 a.m., at the Woodland Church of the Nazarene.
The Classic Gospel Sons will hold a farewell concert on Sat., April 25 at New Hope Community Church, 11731 SE Stevens Rd., Happy Valley, OR.
Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the concert will begin at 6 p.m. There is no admission. An offering will be taken.
Current members of the Classic Gospel Sons are disbanding the group after the concert and they want to perform their musical favorites and share their ministry one more time.
“We just want to have a good time with our friends, give them a good show, tell them how much we appreciate them and give them a good farewell,’’ said group member Don Smith.
Smith said the group has had more than 120 different members since it was formed in 1968 on the campus of a Christian college. Smith will be joined at the farewell concert by members Stan and Bobbi Kay Kirschenmann, Terry Vander Stoep and Jerry Watson.
