VANCOUVER USA SINGERS will combine with Clark College Chorale to present a pair of concerts on Fri., June 6 and Sat., June 7 at Prairie High School.

Vancouver USA Singers, directed by Jana Hart, will combine with Clark College Chorale, directed by April Duvic, when they present their third performance series of the 2014-15 concert year during the weekend of June 6.

The 90-voice Vancouver Singers and the 60-voice Clark College Chorale will perform the Faure Requiem in the original orchestral orchestration by the composer. Faure had the final In Paradisum, accompanied by harp, performed at his own funeral. The orchestra consists of professional musicians from Portland, Salem, Vancouver and Longview, including concert-master, Darrell Hunt. Hart will conduct and Duvic will sing the famous soprano solo, Pie Jesu.

Duvic will conduct the combined chorus as they present Benjamin Britten's gorgeous Hymn to St. Cecelia.

Vancouver Singers will also sing Wanting Memories by Ysaye Barnwell of the internationally acclaimed gospel group, Sweet Honey in the Rock.

Darcy Schmitt, vocal director of Battle Ground High School, has worked personally with the group, and will conduct this piece. Goodnight, Dear Heart, by Dan Forest is the setting of a poem Mark Twain wrote for the tombstone of his much-adored daughter, who died at age 24, leaving him heartbroken.

The Clark College Chorale performs a wide variety of choral literature including classical masterworks and non-classical genres for both male and female, as well as mixed-voice choral music. Open to all students and community members, the Chorale performs a minimum of one concert per term. They will do several numbers during the concert, as well.

The performances are Sat., June 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Sun., June 7 at 3:00 p.m. Both performances will be held at Prairie High School, 11311 NE 119th Street, Vancouver.

Tickets are on sale now at, from any group member, at Beacocks Music, and from Music World in both Hazel Dell and Battle Ground. Pre-sale tickets for ages 13 and up are $17. Children 12 and under attend free of charge. Tickets for all performances will be available at the door for $20.
