MONTHLY MEETING OF the Clark County Commission on Aging, which will be in work session format, will be Tues., July 15, 3:30-6 p.m., at the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St., sixth floor hearing room, Vancouver. Community events

THE RURAL HERITAGE FAIR will be held Sat., July 19, and Sun., July 20, at Alan Schurman’s “Iron Ranch” at 23100 NE 10th Ave. in Ridgefield. It runs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day and admission is free, although there’s a $6 per car parking fee. A CITY-WIDE GARAGE SALE will be held in La Center on Sat., July 19, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Residents may have their garage sale address placed on a map for $3. A map with list of sale locations and items for sale will be on the City of La Center’s website, the La Center our Days website, at the Farmer’s Market and at local businesses. CLARK COUNTY FARM FORESTRY ASSOCIATION annual potluck picnic will take place Sat., July 26, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.,  at the Goff Tree Farm, with brush and blackberry management demonstrations, presentation on small wood logging by Dan’s Tractor, self-guided tours, and carving demonstrations by chainsaw artist. Chicken and soft drinks provided. Bring salad, side dish or dessert, plus table settings and lawn chairs.

BACKCOUNTRY HORSEMEN Annual Fun Ride will be Sat., July 26, first riders out at 8 a.m., at Kalama Horse Camp. There will be short and long loop rides, complimentary pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. Limited overnight camping available, weed-free hay is required. Also, there will be great raffle prizes. PULL FOR FIRE, La Center’s own teen rock band, will perform Sat., July 19, at Sternwheeler Park from 6 to 8 p.m. during Saturdays in the Park, La Center’s free summer concert series.

NEW DISPLAY IN the Swift Gallery at the Battle Ground Community Library will be going on in July/August. Artist Tom Wheeler is displaying some of his paintings. His work will be in the library until Aug. 29. The library is located at 1207 SE 8th Way, Battle Ground. Kim McNally, (360) 619-1842.

BGHS CLASS OF 1974 is inviting the classes from 1972-1976 to join their 40-year reunion event Sat., July 26, 4 p.m., at the home of Joe Taylor, 10519 NE 314th St., Battle Ground. Bring a potluck item to add to the pig roast hosted by the Class of 1974. Bring your favorite beverage and lawn chair. Participate in the Alumni Jam at 7 p.m. Cost is $15. Summer Camps

BGHS TIGER YOUTH Gridiron Football Camp, the annual Tiger Youth Gridiron Football Camp, for kids entering 2nd through 8th grade,  will focus on skill development, sportsmanship, strength/conditioning and leadership. Participants will be taught fundamentals in all positions and gain a greater love for the game. This camp is a fundraiser for the BGHS football program, as well as, an outreach to the community. Registration on-site the day of Tiger Youth Gridiron Football Camp is an additional $10. IMPROV CAMP for ages 8-12, will be a fun, active Improv Camp. Learn improve techniques, work with props, use your imaginations, play games and laugh a whole with your new camp friends. This camp will culminate in a live performance for your family and friends. Please bring a sack lunch, and any props or costumes you want to share. BARK IN THE PARK Canine Carnival fundraising event will be Sat., Aug. 2, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at Ross Off-Leash Dog Park, Northeast Ross Street and 15th Avenue. The Dog Owners Group for Park Access in Washington (DOGPAW) is hosting the event. Fun for dogs and owners alike, including carnival games, vendors, demos and more. Doggie Derby, Doggie Bowling, Dog and Owner Egg Walk, second annual K-9 Pageant with costume contest, talent show and Q & A. Live music performed by Mother Joseph’s Academy Players and food from Tacos n’ Cream. All proceeds support your local DOGPAW off-leash dog parks.
