ANNUAL AMBOY, YACOLT and Chelatchie Schools Reunion and Old Timer’s Picnic will be Fri., July 31, 12:30 p.m. lunch, start gathering about 10 a.m., at Amboy Territorial Park. Bring a potluck dish of your choice. Disposable plates, cups, forks and coffee will be furnished. Bring old school pictures to share. Each person attending the picnic is asked to plan on making a small donation to help cover costs for mailing, coffee, utensils and other items. THE PORT OF WOODLAND Board of Commissioners will hold their regularly scheduled monthly commission meeting Thu., Aug. 20, 5:30 p.m., at the Port of Woodland Office, 115 Davidson, Woodland. Meeting will include a public hearing for the purpose of amending the Comprehensive Scheme of Harbor Improvement for the surplusing of port property and the acquisition of property. Sports & Recreation

MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: Registration begins Aug. 1. BUMP, SET and SERVE. Boys and girls will increase their volleyball skills and abilities through team play. Practices are during the week and games are on Saturdays. Once players are registered, teams are compiled and coaches will be contacting players about their team practice schedule. Season begins Sept. 12 with a kick-off event that includes a free player clinic. Games start Sept. 26. Cost is $95, players receive a team shirt. HIGH SCHOOL RECREATIONAL BASKETBALL: Registration begins Aug. 1. The purpose of this league is to give high school students an opportunity to play basketball outside of high school teams. It also gives student athletes a chance to work on their skills prior to the start of high school tryout dates. Teams are first come, first served. No coaches required. League lasts six weeks, no practices, games are on Saturdays starting Sept. 19. Cost is $50, players receive a team T-shirt. JUNIOR GOLF CAMP AT THE CEDARS: Introduce young people to the game of golf in a fun and interactive atmosphere. They will learn the concept of how the game is played, some history of how it became the sport it is today, along with fun activities that will teach the fundamentals of playing the sport. Water bottles will be provided and all kids will receive a Cedars logo ball. Prizes will be awarded during competitions. The camp will be led by Joe Cain, Head Golf Professional at The Cedars on Salmon Creek. Camp runs Aug. 3-6, 10-11 a.m., $100, ages 8-13. QUICKSTART SPORTS FLAG FOOTBALL CAMP: QuickStart Sports Flag Football Camp is an opportunity for your son or daughter to get an introduction to the game of football. During these four consecutive days, they will teach your child the basic skills, fundamentals, rules and positions. Campers will get to play on the BGHS District Stadium turf field, and they will receive a T-shirt. Camp runs Aug. 10-13 and is $110, 10 a.m.-noon, for ages 3-6, 1-4 p.m. for ages 7-11. MAD SCIENCE SUMMER CAMPS: Camps will run Aug. 17-21 at Captain Strong, $163 per camp. Moving with Science for Ages 5-8, 9 a.m.-noon. Join the Mad Scientist in a fun-filled exploration of how science keeps our world moving. Take a close-up look at a wide array of scientific disciplines. Creative Contraptions! The Inventors Camp for ages 9-12. This camp will take junior inventors on a journey of discovery from the real life inventions of da Vinci, Edison, and the Wright brothers to Isaac Asimov’s dreams of future inventions. Art & Music

AURORA GALLERY will feature the Art Market for First Friday Fri., Aug. 7, at the Gallery, 1004 Main St., Vancouver. They will have pastel painting demonstrations, jewelry and metal demonstrations and a potter throwing handmade pots. Artists will be located inside and outside on the sidewalks around the gallery. GALLERY 360 invites artists to paint, draw or photograph the outside of the Slocum House or any of its features on Sat., Aug. 1, 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on the lawn of the Slocum House, 605 Esther St., Vancouver.
