‘The Prom’ gives people of all abilities an opportunity to shine

On Fri., May 29, at 6:30pm, Living Hope Church will open the doors and roll out the red carpet for some very special guests.

“The Prom – a night to shine,” is a free event for teens and adults ages 16 and up with developmental disabilities, which aims to provide an evening of acceptance and love, giving everyone a chance to shine. Church officials and members are rolling out the red carpet to greet guests, and have a fun-filled night planned where everyone will feel like the star.

As well as a great local DJ, there will be a magician for entertainment, a full meal, a hair and makeup salon, a photo booth, goodie bags and a ‘respite room’ where caregivers can take a break and be pampered. Guests are also invited to attend the Prom Shop ahead of time where they can “shop’’ for a free dress or outfit for their night to shine.

The response from guests, parents and caregivers has been overwhelming. With people registering every day and over 200 volunteers ready to serve, this is destined to be a night to remember for everyone involved.

Living Hope Church Senior Pastor John Bishop said; “This event is why we exist as a church. It’s a great privilege to be able to bless these ones who simply share their joy in return. Living Hope is very excited to be providing this event for our community.”
