Fundraisers

FUNDRAISING EVENT FOR Furry Friends, a nonprofit cat adoption organization, will be Sat., July 25, 5-6 p.m. social hour, 6-7 p.m. dinner and 7-10 p.m. entertainment by Mickey & Diane, at the Vancouver Eagles Lodge, 107 E 7th St., Vancouver. Cost is $10 to attend, $10 for dinner (dinner is optional). An evening of dinner, drinks, dancing, raffle and entertainment. Event will help raise funds for a permanent halfway house for the kitties. BACK COUNTRY HORSEMEN of Washington Annual Fun Ride will be Sat., July 25, 7 a.m. complimentary pancake breakfast, 8 a.m. first riders out, leaving from Kalama Horse Camp. PRAIRIE FALCONS TENNIS CAMP: Students will receive group instruction and activities to help improve tennis ground strokes, volleys, overheads, and serving. Camps will be a mix of drills and games and one-on-one instructional opportunities. Course to be run by high school tennis coach Karl Lind and varsity tennis players from Prairie and Hockinson High Schools. Camp is July 27-30 at Prairie High School, ages 6-12 go from 10 a.m.-noon, cost is $60. Ages 13-18 go from 1-4 p.m., cost is $80. UK ELITE SOCCER CAMPS: These action packed camps are are designed to promote learning of techniques and skills focusing on the individual player. Professional coaches will ensure players have a memorable experience & improve their technical skills and tactical understanding of the game. Camp runs July 27-31 at the Chief Umtuch fields. Petite Camp for ages 3-5 runs 9-10:15 a.m., cost is $90. Half Day Camp for ages 5-8 & 8-14 runs 9 a.m.-noon, cost is $140. Full Day camp for ages 5-8 & 8-14 runs from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., cost is $210. BATTLE GROUND HIGH SCHOOL Class of 1975 40th reunion will be Sat., Aug. 8, 3:30 p.m., at Joe Taylor’s property at 10519 NE 314th St., Battle Ground. Potluck event with burgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, water and fixings provided. Bring your own drinks and whatever you’d like to put on the grill, as well as a potluck dish to share with everyone. PLANTING FOR POLLINATORS class will be Sat., July 18, 10 a.m.-noon, at the CASEE Center, Building B, Room 206, 11104 NE 149th St., Brush Prairie. Jacqueline Freeman will show how to use particular colors, sequential groupings, seasonal timing and nectar-rich plants to attract more pollinators, and to help bees and butterflies be healthier. FUN IN THE KITCHEN: Junior Chefs I: Ages 10-13. Junior Chefs will cook, bake, and eat tasty meals with Chef Susan to share with family and friends. Students will work independently and in groups learning basic cooking and kitchen skills in this hands-on class following recipes, planning menus, creating their own recipes and exploring a variety of cultures and dishes, as well as practicing good table manners and safe food handling.
