Archer Gallery hosting Minnesota artist’s exhibit

The Archer Gallery will present the first Northwest exhibit of Minnesota painter, Margaret Wall-Romana “The Sensorium of Painting” Wed., Nov. 7-Sun., Dec. 9.

Romana’s large oil on wood panel painting was described as “extravagantly romantic and seriously beautiful’’ by organizers of the event. A graduate of the University of California-Davis with a degree from the Art Institute of Chicago, Wall-Romana has work in collections from London to Manhattan to San Fransisco.

Minneapolis Star-Tribune writer Mary Abbe said, “To call Wall-Romana a painter of visionary botanical art is too clinical for her results, and too modest for her aspirations.”

Archer Gallery Director Carson Legree extended thanks to the George Billis Gallery in Los Angeles and Ms. Wall-Romana for the loan of her artwork, as well as the Associated Student Body of Clark College for funding this program.

The gallery will host an Artist’s Talk, Nov. 7 from 7-8 p.m, in room PUB 161 on campus. The Archer Gallery is located at 1933 Fort Vancouver Way in Vancouver and is open Tues.-Thurs., 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and Fri. and Sat., noon-5 p.m. More information can be found at their website, www.clark.edu/archergallery, or by calling (360) 992-2246.
