COUNTRY SHINDIG LIVE Concert and Dance, a fundraiser for the Battle Ground Veterans Memorial, will be Fri., April 15, 6-10 p.m., at the Battle Ground Community Center, 912 E. Main St., Battle Ground. Admission ticket prices are $10 per person presale or $15 per person at the door. Tickets are available for purchase at the community center or online at www.parksfoundation.us. LA CENTER UNITED monthly meeting will be Thu., April 14, 7 p.m., in the K-8 Library, 700 E. 4th St., La Center. Guest speaker Curtis Miller will present on Adverse Childhood Experiences or ACEs. Miller is the executive director for Connect Battle Ground, a growing coalition of over 130 cross-sector organizations in Battle Ground. He leads the ACEs & Resilience team for his coalition and as part of the greater ACEs Action Alliance, a collaborative of more than 43 organizations in Clark County. THE DAUGHTERS OF THE PIONEERS of Washington will meet Thu., April 14, business meeting at 11 a.m., at Our Bar on Main Street in Washougal, followed by guided tours with docents at 1 p.m., at the Two Rivers Historical Museum in Washougal, located at the Southwest corner of the Pendleton parking lot. CLARK SKAMANIA FLYFISHERS will meet Wed., April 20, 6-7 p.m. wet fly hour, 7 p.m. short business meeting with fishing reports, wind knot award and educational short program, followed by the main meeting, at Camas Meadows Golf Course, 4105 NW Camas Meadows Dr., Camas. Speaker will be Joe Rotter, a guide at Red’s Fly Shop in Ellensburg who was featured in a Trout TV episode on fly fishing on the Yakima River. His talk will focus on trout fishing on streams in Eastern Washington. WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS ORGANIZATION of Southwest Washington will meet Wed., April 20, 5:30 p.m., at the Heathman Lodge, 7801 NE Greenwood Dr., Vancouver. Kristin will explain how to use social media to build their brands, including how to have a consistent, effective brand on social media, insider tips and the latest social media tools. THE CLARK COUNTY Board of Councilors will hold two public hearings on Tue., April 19, 10 a.m., in the Councilors’ Hearing Room, sixth floor, Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St., Vancouver. One will be on the Charter Amendment-Limit Property Taxes, and the other on the Public Service Center Limited Use Policy. LEARN HOW TO select and develop new sales channels at Washington State University Vancouver’s next Business Growth MAP Alliance forum on Wed., April 20, 8:30-10 a.m., at the Pacific Continental Bank Community Room, 101 E. Presented by Joe Mazzarella, principal and founder of NextStage Associates, the forum will cover the nuances of understanding your business-to-business customers and their decision-making process, and using that knowledge to select new sales channels. Recreational Programs

SUMMER HEROES EXPERIENCE: Community Education partners with the Battle Ground School District Learning Support Program to provide the four-week program that runs Monday-Friday, July 11-Aug. 5, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m., at River Homelink. The program is available to incoming first through fourth graders for the 2016-17 school year. The focus of camp is reinforcing learning skills from the school year, reading activities and fun LEGO math activities. Free lunch is offered to every student who attends, along with free transportation from key pick up and drop off locations. Space is limited, cost is $77 per week, with four weeks to choose from. YMCA LEGO ENGINEERING: After school, grades K-4. Lego Story Builders - grades K-1. Each week class will start with story time and then move to a building challenge that correlates with the story. Lego Engineering - Grades 2-4. Student engineers will build and experiment with the simple machines and motors to build cars that move and much more. Class meets on Tuesdays starting April 26 at Pleasant Valley, 3:30-5 p.m., and April 28 at Tukes Valley from 3:40-5:10 p.m., six sessions, cost is $60. CODE TO THE FUTURE: Video Game Design: This is open to Level 1 (Beginners) and Level 2 (students who took first session). Learn computer programming and make your own working video game design. Beginners are welcome. This class is open to students in second through sixth grade who are interested in learning computer programming in a fun and kid-friendly environment. The next session starts April 22 and there are two times to choose from, 4-5 p.m., and 5:10-6:10 p.m., cost is $105. IRISH DANCE: Irish céilí dancing is for anyone who enjoys moving to music and doesn’t mind the fiddle. A popularized form of folk dancing in Ireland, céilí dancing is a social group dance similar in form to square dance, but similar in style to the popular “Riverdance.” Appropriate for students aged 6-12 (prefer parental supervision to children under 10). Four to five of the traditional 30 Céilídances typically taught in a six-week course. Class meets on Wednesday starting April 27, 5-6 p.m. at Captain Strong Small Gym, cost is $42. INTRODUCTION TO DRAWING: Practice in-class exercises to learn the fundamentals of describing light and shadow on forms. Classroom demonstrations and individual guidance will be provided within a small group of students. Students will create depth and the illusion of realism as they learn to draw from still life models. They will also develop skill working with traditional drawing techniques. Lastly, they will experiment with a variety of papers and surfaces to develop their own unique viewpoint. Class is for adults and meets on Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the Lewisville Campus starting April 26, five sessions, cost is $60 (includes materials).
