History, hoses and quilts

This Saturday the North Clark Historical Museum will be holding its 31st Annual Membership Meeting packed with food, an auction, raffle, and awards. Before the meeting begins there will be a potluck and silent auction at 5:30 p.m. Guests who bid on the auction have the chance to win a $100 gift card to Fred Meyer, a Moulton Falls Wine Tasting, a 50-foot hose and more. A quilt made by the Chelatchie Quilters is also up for grabs in a raffle that benefits the Capital Improvement Fund.

General business will start at 6:30 and includes possible reelection of board members Barbara Rogers, Jerry Johnson and Georgene Neal for a three-year term as well as a review of the Museum’s activities in the past. Joe and Susan Millea of the Moulton Falls Winery will also be rewarded with the prestigious Citizen’s Award for their support of the museum and involvement in the community.

Fill your quota on culture for the year

If you’re looking for a laugh this week, the Love Street Playhouse is bringing back Steel Magnolias after 10 years.

“I read the script again after a decade of producing it at Love Street and immediately was reminded of how much I enjoy this play and the bond between its loveable characters,” says Melinda Pallotta, who is the Artistic Director and Owner of Love Street Playhouse.

Steel Magnolias follows the lives of six Southern women as they bond in a salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana. It will make you laugh, cry and look for friendship as meaningful as theirs. The play is directed by J Christopher Cleveland of Vancouver and brings a mixed cast of seasoned veterans and newcomers including Rebecca York (La Center) as Truvy, Jessica Wisniewski (Woodland) as Shelby, Rebekah Skinner (La Center) as Annelle, Karen Cleveland (Vancouver) as Shelby’s mother M’Lynn,  Patricia Rohrback (Vancouver) as Ouiser and Cindy Heikkala (Vancouver) as Clairee.
