BGHS presents ‘The 1940’s Radio Hour’

Battle Ground High School Drama Club's spring production of "The 1940's Radio Hour" opens May 7.

The play was written by Walton Jones and is directed by Stephen "Cash" Henry with musical direction by Darcy Schmitt and band orchestration by Greg McKelvey.

"The 1940's Radio Hour" is a lively musical that takes place in a small New York City radio station in December 1942. Packed with humorous radio commercials and live on-stage sound effects, the musical features songs of the period such as "That Old Black Magic," "Ain't She Sweet," "How About You?," "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," and "Blues In The Night."



Doors open at 6:40 p.m. Audience members who arrive before curtain time will be immediately transported to 1942 and see the characters preparing the stage for the radio show. The family production is recommended for viewers age 8 and older.

The musical will run May 7-9 and 14-16 in The Lair at Battle Ground High School, 300 W. Main St., Battle Ground. Performances begin at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $5 for students with ASB and senior citizens and $10 for the general public and are available at the door or online at https://payments.battlegroundps.org/.
