Fundraisers

CLARK COLLEGE STUDENT Nurses Association will host a walk for cancer Sat., Feb. 28, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., on the Clark College main campus, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver. Entry fee will be a $10 gift card for either gas or groceries that will be given to Peace Health to give to their cancer patients. Participants can choose from one-half, one or two-mile loops around campus. Each participants gift card will get them two entries into a drawing which will happen at 1:30 p.m. This event will be rain or shine and will also includes Clark student nurses performing free blood-pressure checks there will be a kids table, and there will be snacks and drinks at the end provided by Pacific Coast Connections, who is sponsoring this event. THE SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON Wind Symphony will showcase contemporary music by American composers at its concert entitled “Awakenings” Sun., March 1, 3-4:15 p.m., at Union High School Performing Arts Center, 6201 NW Friberg-Strunk St., Camas. The program includes “Mock Morris” by Percy Grainger, “Sanctuary” by Frank Ticheli, and features “In Memoriam” by David Maslanka, a dramatic composition commissioned by a group of University of Texas students to honor a beloved organist and choir director. SPRING TRACK: If you’re a kid between 9-14 who loves to run, jump and throw, then track is for you. The team meets twice a week to practice track events on Mondays and Wednesdays. Your coach will fill you in throughout the season regarding practice and meet schedules. Two local meets are scheduled for May 14 and 21 at Battle Ground District Stadium, with other community meets optional. Season starts March 30, practices at Chief Umtuch and BGHS District Stadium, cost is $77. Registration is open now. TEEN YOGA WITH Battle Ground Healing Arts: This is a fun and inspiring class for beginners set to upbeat music. Physically, yoga is a great exercise routine that builds strength and flexibility while improving posture, stability and balance. Mentally, yoga can help with stress management, decision making, concentration, and cultivating compassion for oneself and others. All levels welcome. WATER COLOR PAINTING: Water color painting is a painting method in which the paints are made of pigments suspended in a water-soluble vehicle. The term “watercolor” refers to both the medium and the resulting work. The traditional and most common support for watercolor paintings is paper. Do you want to learn how to paint with water colors, or improve your craft? In this class you will receive instruction, demos, and individual help and critique.
