Clark County residents are invited to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Children’s Sharing Project, a volunteer-led nonprofit that supports local children and families with school supplies and holiday gifts.

Participants can come by the Public Service Center between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Thu., July 30, for an ice cream social money-raiser and school supply drive. The event will be in the center plaza at 1300 Franklin St. Donations are tax deductible.

Entertainment will include opportunities to drop the following elected officials into a dunk tank: Sheriff Chuck Atkins, Auditor Greg Kimsey, Councilor Tom Mielke, Assessor Peter Van Nortwick and Clerk Scott Weber. Acting County Manager Mark McCauley also will take a turn.

Started by Clark County employees, Children’s Sharing Project is now a partnership among employees, Fred Meyer Grand Central, Star Touring & Riding Chapter 407, Dragonfly Café and Lifeline Connections.

School supply donations will go to the Fruit Valley Family Resource Center. Adjacent Fruit Valley Elementary School has the county’s highest percentage of students eligible for free or reduced lunches. In 2014, 300 students received school supplies and 1,400 children received holiday gifts.

To donate, checks can be sent to Children’s Sharing Project, c/o Community Services, P.O. Box 5000, Vancouver, WA 98666-5000, PayPal at www.paypal.com or PayPal from the Children’s Sharing Project Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CCCSP1985.
