Sweeney launches tour, new album in Yacolt

Battle Ground’s own Amber Sweeney will be sending waves of her unique soulful, rockin’ blues across North Clark County this week.

Sweeney’s  album, “Believing In Love,” is releasing on Jan. 27 and there will be a party at Moulton Falls Winery in Yacolt the day before to celebrate the release and kick off her album tour, the Believing in Love Winter Tour. A local group will open for Sweeney and her band. The event is family friendly, costs $5 at the door and starts at 6:30 p.m.

Sweeney has lived in Battle Ground for the last 15 years. In the last few years she has began gaining momentum as a musician; one of her recent songs “Lone Sailor” even reached number four on the iTunes Blues chart.

In the early stages of her career, Sweeney said support from the people of Battle Ground helped in her journey as a musician.

In her upcoming album, “Believing In Love,” there are touches of North Clark County. The Battle Ground High School choir is featured in one of the songs and for every album sold the ROCKSOLID Teen Center in Battle Ground will receive $1. The upcoming seven-track album also includes five other Grammy and award winning artists.

Sweeney draws inspiration from her hometown as an artist. For example, one of her songs is titled, “The Great Northwest.”

“I can’t wait to show the world who we are as a community,” she told The Reflector last year.
