VSO welcomes three young artist winners

The Vancouver Symphony continues its big 36th season with a concert that combines the talents of its three gold medal winners of the 21st Annual Young Artists Competition, framed two French works: Henry Honegger’s Symphony No. 5 and Maurice Ravel’s La Valse.

Maestro Salvador Brotons conducts Sat., April 18 at 3 p.m. and Sun.. April 19 at 7 pm at Skyview Concert Hall.

Guest artists will be the symphony’s three Young Artists winners:  Matthieu Galizia, piano, playing the Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 16 (1st mvt.) by Grieg; Nathan Kim, piano, playing the Piano Concerto No. 1 in D-flat major, Op. 10 by Prokofiev and Yun Teng, violin, playing the Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 47 (1st mvt.) by Sibelius.  



All three young artists won the right to perform with extraordinary performances at the competition on February 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church.
