Pamela Easter, 35, said that growing up, her dad had her playing softball from a young age and all through high school, and in the Amateur Softball Association. So, Easter is no stranger to being active for most of her life.

Then, at 19 years old, Easter had twins and gained a “dreaded” 85 pounds.

“After the twins were born I was devastated so see what my body looked like,” Easter said. “I was no longer a cute teenager with a tight tummy, but I had a mom belly. So, that started my mission at 185 pounds and extremely out of shape from three months of bed rest I started my fight back.”

Easter started playing softball again, which led her to a knee injury where she tore her PCL. She then began her journey of first rebuilding herself, and then on to helping to rebuild others after receiving her training certificate from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Easter is now a certified trainer with specialization in youth exercise fitness. She is also currently studying Mixed Martial Arts and hopes to have her certification complete by the end of January.

All of Easter’s hard work in fitness and personal training led her to open her exercise and training facility, PE, this past September. Located at 7107 NE 179th St., in Vancouver, at PE Easter offers group training, children’s agility and personal training for injury rehabilitation, weight loss and reverse aging muscle atrophy.

Easter said one of the main program’s she offers is a biggest loser program, with the next one beginning Jan. 4. Anyone ages 18-70 at any fitness level can participate in this program, which includes balance, flexibility, strength, cardio and resistance training either with Easter leading the group or in a circuit-style workout. Workouts include tabata, total body, boot camp, core, upper and lower body, and cardio kickboxing. Cost for this particular program is $129 per month and includes 11 workouts each week, meal planning, support group and weekly weigh-ins and measurements, and a cash prize.

“My biggest loser challenge begins on Jan. 4 and runs through June 17,” Easter said. “It’s open to 30 contestants and is half full already. The cost is $129 per month. Sign ups before Jan. 1 will also be given three personal training sessions to use during the program. I am also offering a January special on my personal training for $35 per session with a minimum of four sessions purchased.”

In addition to her biggest loser program, Easter also offers a youth agility program, which is designed to help with injury prevention among youth as well as allowing youth to excel in speed, strength and quickness (side to side and forward and back movements). Youth classes are one day a week on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. Cost is $10 to drop in.

Easter’s personal training is $45-$60 per session for 55 minutes, and is one-on-one.

With the holidays in full swing, Easter reminds everyone that you don’t get out of shape in one day, it takes a pattern of bad choices to lead to weight gain.

“If you have a bad decision, acknowledge it and think what you could do different next time and move on,” Easter said. “Hakuna matata. It’s much easier to face the day if you look at what you’re doing right instead of what you’re doing wrong. Positive thinking leads to more positive choices.”

Currently, Easter is the only staff member at PE, but she said Cliff Sallee will be certified next month and will be taking clients soon. She said it will be nice to have a male trainer in the facility that brings just as much positive energy and excitement as she does.

Easter is married to her high school sweetheart, Lance Easter, and the couple has 15-year-old twins, Alyssa and Dylan, and a 9-year-old daughter, Olivia. In her free time, Easter said she enjoys running, snowboarding, softball, spending days up in the woods hiking or playing at the river in the summer. She moved to Battle Ground in 1985 and attended Battle Ground Public Schools for all of her school years, including Battle Ground High School where she met her husband. Easter and her family currently live on five acres just north of Battle Ground.
