Cascade Park Care Center was recently listed as a five-star nursing facility under the ratings system used by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

“This is an important achievement because, working together, the staff has received the validation of excellence from a federal agency,” said Janice Bottemiller, executive director.

The CMS ratings system is designed to assist the public in choosing care for their loved ones. It calculates the ratings based on results of health inspections, staffing and quality measures (including pain management, pressure ulcers, weight loss and number of medications used).

Bottemiller shared some of the facility’s strong points that led to such high marks.

“It starts with hiring the right folks and training them on an ongoing basis,” she said. “It starts at the top with Life Care Centers of America, our parent company; the standard it sets flows to its facilities. Cascade Park has excellent teamwork, trust and very low turnover. The staff puts the residents first.”

Located at 801 Southeast Park Crest Ave., Cascade Park Care Center is one of 17 skilled nursing and rehab facilities in Washington managed or operated by Life Care Centers of America.
