Ridgefield day spa expands, adds more beauty services

RIDGEFIELD – Outside, the clouds are threatening to erupt into another chilly autumn drizzle, but inside the Ridgefield-based Bodywork Devine day spa, the atmosphere is cozy and warm – and bustling.

Clients on their way to hair and nail appointments, pass by the spa’s central desk, where owner Kristin Taylor is showing a visitor the array of health and beauty products she offers. In one corner, topical pain-relief products like Tiger’s Balm and Prossage “HEAT” promise to make aches and strains a little bit less achey. On another shelf, a “Relax and Wax on the Fly” kit offers do-it-yourself body hair removal for travelers on the go.

As she heads toward her own massage therapy studio, Taylor points out recent additions to her newly expanded day spa. There’s the spa pedicure room, where clients can luxuriate in a full-service pedicure. There’s a room for permanent makeup application, one for facials and one for waxing. In total, Taylor’s expansion, completed in the summer of 2015, has opened her salon up to a host of new services.

Before the expansion, clients could still come to Taylor, a licensed massage therapist as well as a licensed esthetician, for a variety of massage and skincare needs – including Taylor’s specialty, Ashiatsu, a form of massage that uses a ceiling-mounted bar over the massage table to let therapists stand on the massage table and use their feet instead of their hands for the actual massage. Originally developed to assist therapists who had wrist and hand pain, the  practice allows for a deeper massage.

Now, Bodywork Devine clients can experience a range of massage – from Ashiatsu to the more traditional Swedish to the ultra-relaxing hot stone massage – as well as the spa pedicures, makeup application (including permanent makeup), body waxing for women and men, and a range of skincare services, including anti-aging facials and body wraps.

Taylor says she’s excited about the expansion because it allows her to help a more diverse range of people, and because she can invite other healers and beauty service providers to work in her Ridgefield salon.

“I love what I do,” Taylor says. “People leave feeling happy and relaxed.”

Along with the newly expanded space, Taylor has brought in other practitioners, including one woman who provides a mobile spray tan booth for private parties, and is looking to add even more services and providers.

Some of the new services include an anti-cellulite body wrap that utilizes green coffee beans to break down the cellulite and rev up the metabolism, and the Pevonia lumafirm®  Lift & Glow spa facial, which tightens skin, increases the skin’s elasticity and firmness and leaves the face brighter, tighter and more radiant. The spa also offers eyelash extensions and eyelash fills, which Taylor says are very popular right now.

Even with the new array of services, Taylor would like to add more to her Ridgefield salon, which is located at 8507 S. 5th St., Suite 104, in Ridgefield.

Taylor encourages potential therapists and beauty service providers interested in joining the day spa to call her at (360) 798-3105. To make an online appointment, or for more information about Bodywork Devine, visit www.bodyworkdevine.com.
