What to Do in the Garden in December, Sat., Dec. 7, 11 a.m.: This is Tsugawa’s monthly seminar on what should be done in the landscape and garden. This month, welcome the official start of winter. December is the time to prune conifers, using the cut greens for decorations or mulch. It’s also a good time to test the germination of your seed collection and more. Bring pictures and samples for the experts at Tsugawa to look at during the Q & A portion. This is a regular seminar on the first Saturday of every month. This seminar is free and open to the public. Space is limited, register ahead online at www.tsugawanursery.com/events.htm or call (360) 225-8750.

There are only 11 more days until Christmas and chances are most people haven’t already begun to celebrate. Tsugawa is offering a second Holiday Greens Workshop for those who may have missed the one in November. Lisa will guide participants through the process of creating their own masterpiece out of the freshest holiday greens and boughs. Participants will take home a beautiful holiday decoration to grace their own home or give as a gift. This class is a great one for beginners and the experienced alike. Don’t forget pruners, gloves and a warm jacket. Cost for this workshop is $35 per participant, fee includes supplies and evergreen boughs for building a holiday piece you’ll take home. Space is limited, register ahead online at www.tsugawanursery.com/events.htm or call (360) 225-8750.

There will be no seminars on Dec. 21 or Dec. 28.

Celebrating 30-plus years, Tsugawa Nursery is a family-owned-and-operated business. The Tsugawa family began berry farming in Woodland in 1947. George and Mable Tsugawa were married in 1950 and raised six children. The Tsugawa family worked hard together to make their farm successful, initially growing strawberries. In January 1981, the Tsugawa family purchased a defunct nursery in Woodland. They opened Tsugawa Nursery in March 1981 with very little nursery stock, but plenty of vision for things to come. The Nursery has grown and become well established as one of the area’s best places to shop for garden and landscape plants and supplies.
