Clark Public Utilities is hosting its annual Earth Day Celebration in partnership with Clark County Environmental Services, Sat., April 19. The largest Earth Day event in Clark County, the planting and EcoFair will be held at the Salmon Creek Regional Park near Klineline Pond. This event features more than 30 participating organizations.
The free community EcoFair, open to all, kicks off at 10 a.m. with festivities lasting until 2 p.m. The fair will feature family-friendly entertainment, including a birds of prey show by the Portland Audubon and live music. Activities include face painting, nature walks, hands on games and activities, Radio Disney’s Team Green road show, and OMSI’s interactive station with live insects and reptiles. All activities are free of charge.
Kids of all ages are invited on a nature walk to learn about projects that help bring salmon back to Salmon Creek and there will be fish releases with the Northwest Wild Fish Rescue throughout the day. At the closing ceremonies, the winners of the Watershed Reflections student art and writing contest will be announced.
In addition to the EcoFair, hundreds of volunteers will plant trees and pull non-native Garlic mustard plants to improve salmon habitat from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. To say thank you, volunteers will receive a free T-shirt and lunch provided by Tommy O’s. These activities are popular and volunteers must register in advance to participate. EcoFair attendees do not need to register.

The StreamTeam is a volunteer-driven program of Clark Public Utilities comprised of more than 1,000 team members who donate more than 3,500 hours of their time each year to save salmon. StreamTeam members come from a myriad of backgrounds including utility employees, Stream Stewards, scout groups, college students, youth groups and active retirees.
