Clark County residents are invited to join the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society (WCGHS) for the sixth annual Hike on the Dike on Sat., June 7 to help raise money for the only no-kill humane society in Clark County.

Registration is available online at www.wcghs.org or on-site the day of the event.

The 2014 Hike on the Dike features a 2-mile walk along the Columbia River and benefits West Columbia Gorge Humane Society, a volunteer driven, nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness and ending unnecessary euthanasia of all healthy or treatable companion animals and finding them permanent, loving homes.

The walk will begin at 11 a.m. at Pendleton Woolen Mills located at 2 Pendleton Way in Washougal. Onsite participant registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the registration tent in the parking lot at Pendleton Woolen Mills. This year’s walk will feature 20-plus on-site vendors, police K-9 demonstration, food and raffle prizes. Free micro-chipping will be offered to the first 50 registered walkers sponsored by Avid and help from Orchard Hills Animal Hospital. All breeds of well-behaved dogs are welcome.

“This is our sixth year hosting the walk in Washougal and it continues to grow each year. The pledges and sponsorships enable us to continue to save the lives of many dogs and cats in the local community,” said Theresa Robarge, board member. “With the help of sponsors and supporters, we hope to double attendance this year and reach our goal of raising $20,000.”

In 2013, West Columbia Gorge Humane Society was able to place 463 cats and dogs into their forever homes, due to the support of friends just like you. The mission is to eliminate unnecessary euthanasia of healthy or treatable companion animals in the community and find them permanent, loving homes.

West Columbia Gorge Humane Society is located at 2695 S. Index Street, Washougal. For more information, call (360) 335.0941, email info@wcghs.org or visit www.wcghs.org.
