Animal control board seeks applicants for spay-neuter grants

Organizations looking for financial assistance for their spay-neuter programs have until April 14 to submit grant applications to Clark County Animal Protection and Control, an agency release stated.

The Clark County Animal Protection and Control Advisory Board is currently accepting applications for the grant from groups in Vancouver and unincorporated Clark County, according to the release.

“Spay and neuter programs help all of us by reducing the number of animals that end up abandoned or at a shelter,” Clark County Animal Control Manager Paul Scarpelli was quoted in the release. “Altering your pet has proven to be healthier for the pet, as well as the community.”

About $15,000 annually goes to applicants for the grant.

The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. on April 14, and can be submitted by a variety of ways. After reviewing the applications the advisory board will make recommendations to the county manager who awards the grant.

Each grant recipient must be an active pet licensing agent for the county, and grant funds can only be applied to licensed animals in Clark County.
