NW Battle Buddies Dinner Auction set for May 2

Posted

The fourth annual Dinner Auction Fundraiser for Northwest Battle Buddies will take place Sat., May 2, 6:30 p.m., at the Embassy Suites at the Portland Airport, 7900 NE 82nd Ave., Portland.

Northwest Battle Buddies, the brainchild of area master dog trainer Shannon Walker, provides veterans of all ages with service dogs which provide companionship, devotion, love and perhaps most important, a reason to keep going.

Guest speaker at the dinner auction event will be Ben Richards, who was featured on “60 Minutes” as part of their segment on “Military Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and NICOE SWI Brain Scan.” Richards said he would rather have an amputated limb than a permanent brain injury due to concussions in combat. His brain injury was discovered much later after going back into combat. Dinner and auction attendees will be able to hear Richards tell his story and discuss his thoughts on TBI.

Tickets to the dinner auction are $100 each and can be purchased online at www.northwestbattlebuddies.org. Sponsorship and VIP opportunities are available. For additional information, call (360) 601-9744.
