CattyShack 2: the saving of Clark County cats

Posted

Any annoyance attendees of this month’s “Catty Shack” event might have upon realizing that the likes of Chevy Chase and Bill Murray aren’t in attendance will surely quell when they see the array of fellow donors dressed in vintage golf attire.

Furry Friends, a no-kill, all-volunteer cat adoption organization in Clark County,  presents its ninth annual dinner and auction fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Firstenburg Community Center —  CattyShack.

All proceeds from the event will go towards funding Furry Friends’ operating costs and building improvements on the halfway house they recently purchased.

As the event’s name suggests, attendees are encouraged to dress in accordance with the 1980s golf comedy “CaddyShack.” However, organizers did say dressing up was purely optional.

Along with a costume party, the event will feature a photo shoot: a silent auction with items such as airline tickets, fishing trips, winery tours and tastings, gift certificates to local eateries, gift baskets, pet items and much more; a dinner catered by Summerland Catering will be served — chicken or vegetarian entrée and dessert bar; and the climax and conclusion of the event will be an awards show for the most popular CattyShack costume.

Sponsors include Salmon Creek Plastic Surgery, Kathy Angelo Construction and Iron Gate Storage.
